The Wayuu Taya Foundation Gala

The Wayuu Taya Foundation works to improve the living conditions of Indigenous communities across Latin America, particularly along the Venezuela–Colombia border. With a focus on education, healthcare, food access, and cultural preservation, the foundation has become a leading voice in advocating for Indigenous rights and dignity across the region.

JWP has partnered with the Foundation on its milestone events, aligning notable voices in art, fashion, music, and public service to amplify the organization’s mission and fundraising efforts.

For the 2025 gala, JWP supported the Foundation’s continued expansion with a high-profile event at Chelsea Industrial in New York City. The evening honored individuals and organizations advancing the Foundation’s mission and drew a diverse guest list, including Christian Siriano, Francisco Costa, Mimi Lazo, and Ubah Hassan. The celebration concluded with a private afterparty at Zero Bond, featuring live entertainment and performances.

The organization's 20th Anniversary Celebration, held in 2023 at Stephan Weiss Studio, featured a conversation between Secretary Hillary Clinton and Foundation founder Patricia Velasquez, with musical performances by Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Joshua Bell, and Jorge Glem. The space was designed to reflect the Foundation’s cultural roots, with Venezuelan taparas and handcrafted details throughout.
